Community Service

Welcome to the MOMS Club of the Monroe, NY Area Activities Community Service History

It has been said that charity begins at home. What better way to teach our children to be active, compassionate members of society than to demonstrate the compassion in ourselves? The MOMS Club of Monroe is involved in many service causes.

In addition to ones that come up during the year, we have the following service projeects that are ongoing throughout the year:

Memory Boxes for Grieving Families-   The MOMS Club of Monroe is creating and decorating Memory Boxes for a baby’s family in a compassionate way to commemorate their baby’s short but precious life. Hospital bereavement counselors and nurses will give the Memory Boxes to the families of infants who are stillborn or pass away in the hospital. Each box is used to store birth and death certificates, clothing, footprints, wristbands, and other mementoes. Feel free to join in at any time!

Project Linus-   Blankets are donated and sent to children all over Orange Co. who suffer and injury, illness, or traumatic event. We are making no-sew fleece blankets right now. Anyone can help out. Experience is not necessary and this is a great activity for children to have a playmate.

Hugs and Hope-   Children fighting for their lives have very little to smile about. By sending them some “Happy Mail”, we are trying to give these children a few more smiles, a little more hope and a reason to get out of bed every morning.

Color a Smile-  “C A S” collects colored drawings from children. Every month they distribute these drawings to nursing homes, Meals on Wheels Programs, and individuals all across the country that just needs a “smile”.
